John Christopher Coyne, 87, passed away on August 7, 2016. His family received relatives and friends at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home of Livingston, 145 East Mt. Pleasant Ave., on Wednesday, August 10. The Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Philomena’s Church, 386 South Livingston Avenue, Livingston, today, Thursday, August 11, at 10 A.M., followed by the committal service at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. John was born in Ahalative, Creggs, County Gallaway, Ireland, immigrated to the U.S. in June, 1956, and had lived over 50 years in Livingston, NJ. He was a plasterer but retired from Local #68 of the Operating Engineers Union. John was also an active member of St. Philomena’s Church in Livingston. Above all, John was very proud of his Irish heritage and instilled the same in his children, grandchildren and all who knew him. Predeceased by his beloved wife Eileen (Higgins), he is survived by his devoted children, Michael J. and wife Aine; Thomas J. and wife Mary; Eileen M. Halligan and husband Timothy; Lisa Ann Brady and husband Michael; and his loving grandchildren, Kelly, John, Megan, Maisy and Gavin Coyne and Caitlin and Deirdre Brady. John is also survived by his siblings, Bridie and Tommie, and many nieces and nephews in Ireland. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Livingston First Aid Squad.
