Scott Allen Bailey, son of the late Jane Curtis Bailey and the late Edward Bruce Bailey, career newspaperman at The Star-Ledger, passed away October 17, 2016 in Rochelle Park, NJ, after a serious illness resulting in constrained movement for six years. He was 61. He is survived by his sister, Lynn Bailey, who helped take care of him during those years; his brother, Douglas Bailey; and his sister Jean Bailey, all of whom were close in age and involved in his life. A resident of Livingston from1954 until 1975, Scott played sports and attended public schools, graduating from high school in 1972. He may be recalled by some for his classic good looks or happy singing or abiding love for all creatures. A carpenter by trade, Scott will be laid to rest with generations of his maternal Lloyd relatives in The Woodlands Cemetery in Philadelphia, PA, a National Historic Landmark, alongside his loving mother and grandmother. Soon after cremation, funeral services for Scott will be graveside and private. Anyone wishing to offer condolences or share a fond memory of Scott may do so c/o Lynn Bailey, P.O. Box 1037, Vernon, NJ 07462. If there are others who prefer to honor his memory with a kindness to his beloved animals, he or she may do so c/o North Shore Animal League America, 25 Davis Avenue, Port Washington, NY 11050, animalleague.org, 516-883-7575. By paying tribute to Scott in this fashion, the donor assists injured and senior animals at the world’s largest no-kill rescue and adoption organization.
