John J. Hengstler, 83, died Thursday, August 4. Born in Jersey City, Mr. Hengstler was a long-time resident of Livingston. He worked for 39 years for the U.S. Postal Service as a mail handler, before his retirement. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Hengstler is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ronnie (nee Hassett). He is also survived by his daughters, Karen Iaconetti (Anthony), Laurie Hathaway (John), and Suzanne Hengstler (Joseph); his sister, Rose Olsen; and seven grandchildren. Visitation was held on Monday, August 8 at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home of Livingston. A Funeral Mass was offered on Tuesday, August 9, at St. Raphael’s Church, Livingston, followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. The family has suggested that donations in Mr. Hengstler's name be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to the Livingston First Aid Squad.
