Adeline Sares went with the angels quietly on Sunday, August 14, 2016. She was 92. She was born in Machala, Ecuador, and studied to be a registered nurse under the supervision of the U.S. Army. Adeline left Ecuador for New York City and was hired at St. Luke’s Hospital. She later relocated to New Jersey and started working for Jersey City Medical Center. She was always reaching for more and saw opportunities at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Newark, NJ. She moved with the hospital to Livingston, NJ and acted in an administrative position in the operating room for more than 25 years. Life was not always easy for her in the United States, but her work ethic opened doors and helped those who came after her. Adeline loved her profession and continued volunteering at Saint Barnabas after she retired. Always one to extend a helping hand, she is an extended family member to many. She had courage, strength, and was a hero to many she left behind in Ecuador. Family was very important to her, and she would visit them yearly and embrace their hopes and ambitions for a better life. The funeral will take place from the Galante Funeral Home, 54 Roseland Ave., Caldwell, on Thursday, August 18, at 8:30 a.m. The funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Philomena Church, Livingston. Entombment will be at Gate of Heave ChapelMausoleum in East Hanover. Visitation took place on Wednesday, August 17, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
