Former Livingston resident Alexander J. Beatrice died Tuesday, August 23, at Morristown Medical Center. He was 85 years old. Arrangements were by the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home of Livingston. Mr. Beatrice was born in Orange and had lived in Livingston before moving to Montville in 1995; he also maintained a winter residence in Fort Myers, Florida. He served in the Navy during the Korean War and then received his accounting degree from Rutgers University. He had worked for Supermatic Packaging as vice president, but also maintained his own certified public accounting firm. Mr. Beatrice had coached Little League baseball and ice hockey in Livingston. He was also a member of the American Legion and Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary (Scudese); his children, Alexander, Jr. and his wife Rita; Cathi Hynes and her husband, Douglas; Sue Lepore and her husband, Chris; John and his wife, Monica; and Mary Hahn and her husband, Paul. He is also survived by his brother, Anthony; and 15 grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren. The family has suggested that memorial contributions be made in Mr. Beatrice's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
