Virginia “Ginny” Kalweit

Virginia “Ginny” Kalweit, 94, of Livingston, New Jersey, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on Monday, October 17, 2016. Born October 2, 1922, Virginia was infamous to her friends and family for knowing Frank Sinatra and performing with him in the nightclubs of Hoboken and Jersey City in the early 1940s. Moving from Jersey City to Livingston in 1954, Virginia loved to spend the summers in her pool and enjoyed hosting family and friends. She worked at the Llewellyn Edison Bank in West Orange for 25 years before her retirement in 1994. Virginia was predeceased in death by her loving husband, Frederick H. Kalweit. She is survived by her two children: her daughter, Ginny Odenbrett and her husband, Randy, of Parsippany; and her son, Fred Kalweit and his wife, Susan, of Mendham. Virginia was lovingly adored by her two granddaughters, Lauren Pierson and Lanea Odenbrett. Virginia was also a beloved grandmother to John, Christian, and Robi, and great-grandmother to Benjamin, Shane and Liam. She is survived by her sister, Gloria Glover, and was predeceased by her brothers, Jack and Lee. She also leaves behind a number of loving friends and neighbors. Funeral services for Virginia will be held on Friday, October 21, 2016 from 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home in Livingston. Interment will follow immediately at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, New Jersey.
