Giro “Jerry” Orsini died November 7 at the age of 97.Visitation will be held today, Thursday, November 10, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Shook’s Cedar Grove Funeral Home in Cedar Grove. Funeral services will be on Friday at 9 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Church in Cedar Grove. Interment will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover. Memories and condolences may be shared at shookscedargrove.com. Mr. Orsini was a Newark resident for over 90 years and split the past seven years between Cedar Grove and Livingston. He was a decorated World War II U.S. Army veteran. A New Jersey-state licensed plumber, Mr. Orsini was a past president of the Vailsburg Lions’ Club of Newark. Predeceased by his wife, Theresa “Tessie,” and his six siblings, Mr. Orsini is survived by his children, Maria Intile (Anthony); Phyllis LaVorgna (Rev. Robert); Richard Orsini (Catherine); and James Orsini (JoAnn); and six grandchildren.
