Barbara Lundy Dies After Illness

Barbara Lundy, nee Blum, died on Saturday, September 17, following a five-month illness. Arrangements were by Bernheim Apter Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel. The former Livingston resident was born in Brooklyn in 1946 and was graduated from Baldwin High School in Long Island. She earned a BA from the University of Bridgeport. She raised her children in Livingston and was a project manager for IBM, retiring in 2008 and moving to Skillman. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Michael Lundy; her daughters and their spouses, Sharon and Sean Baartmans, and Lisa and Dr. Kenneth Rieger; four grandchildren; and her brother, Martin Blum.

Kenneth A. DeGhetto Dies in Livingston

Kenneth A. De Ghetto, Ph.D, P.E., a retired chairman of the board of Foster Wheeler and a World War II veteran, died at home in Livingston on September 27. Visitation was held at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home in Livingston. Born April 1, 1924 in Clifton, he was graduated from Clifton High School in 1941 and entered the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. When World War II began, Dr. DeGhetto became a cadet midshipman transporting war supplies to Glasgow and Casablanca. He returned to the Academy and received a third assistant marine engineer's license. Dr. DeGhetto was later activated as an ensign in the U.S. Navy. He served on the USS Cimarron AO22 in the Pacific Theater, and later aboard the USS Taconic. He resigned from the Navy in 1946 with the rank of lieutenant. Dr. DeGhetto was graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in June, 1950. He held professional engineering licenses in four states. He began working at Foster Wheeler Corporation in 1951 as a project engineer and retired 51 years later. He became chairman in 1975, and was chairman of the board from 1982 to 1987. A director of the Metro YMCA of the Oranges since 2003, he was active in the Rotary Club of Livingston and in several professional and educational organizations. Dr. DeGhetto is survived by his wife of 72 years, Helen (nee Schack); his daughter, Donna MacConnel; his son, Glenn; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Mimi Streleck of Delray Beach, Florida, a former long-time resident of Livingston, died on Thursday, September 22, in Delray Beach. Online condolences may be left at boulevardfuneralhome.com. Mrs. Streleck had lived in Livingston her entire life before moving to Delray Beach in 2009. Throughout her life, she was an active member and supporter of St. Philomena Roman Catholic Church; Aquinas Academy at St. Philomena Parish; and Mount Saint Dominic Academy. She had served for more than three decades as the director of college services at Caldwell University Mrs. Streleck was predeceased by her husband of 25 years, Gregory Raphael Streleck. She is survived by her daughters, Deborah Streleck-Borenstein, Deirdre Davis, and Francine Donadio; and five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Jane Negrin Dies On September 24

Jane Negrin of Livingston died on September 24. She was 62 years old. Mrs. Negrin earned degrees from Montclair State and Columbia Universities as a speech therapist. She did volunteer work at the Friendship Circle. Mrs. Negrin is survived by her husband, Eugene; her sons Ben (Ilise) and David (Erica); her brothers, Jeremy and Harvey; and her mother, Sarah Doppelt. Pleasant Avenue. A lifelong resident of Livingston, he was a selfemployed as a car dealer and auto mechanic. The longtime Livingston resident died at home on Tuesday, October 11. Born in Morristown, the daughter of Edward and Laura Edwards, Mrs. Feid was raised in Boonton and was graduated from Boonton High School. She worked for Air Craft Radio in Boonton Township, Chatham Public Schools, Newsweek, and Foster Wheeler Corporation in Livingston. Mrs. Feid is survived by her husband, Bert Feid. She is also survived by her children, Nancy Sander and her husband, Kurt, of Livingston; Elaine Anderson and her husband, Edward, of Livingston; and five grandchildren.

Sybil McPherson Seymour Aronson died on September 7 at the Cliffs at Eagle Rock in West Orange. She was 93 years old. Interment was held privately. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 14, at 11:30 a.m. at the Cliffs Chapel, 707 Eagle Rock Avenue, West Orange. Born in New York City, Mrs. Aronson was the eldest of two daughters born to William Edwin Seymour and Bertha Neander. She attended Brown University. In 1951, she married Eric G. Aronson, and they had one son, Lance T. Aronson. Mrs. Aronson was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Daughters of the Confederacy, the South Carolina Huguenot Society, and the American Scottish Society. She was also a board member of Newark Academy. In addition, she served as president of the Ladies’ Golf Association of Essex County Country Club and won numerous golf tournaments over the years. She resided in her homes in Livingston and in Warwick Parish, Bermuda, as well. For more than a decade, Mrs. Aronson volunteered at the Cliff at Eagle Rock, in its community relations and marketing department. Predeceased by her husband of 35 years, Eric G. Aronson, and her sister, Drusilla Westbrook, Mrs. Aronson is survived by her son, Lance T. Aronson (Karen), and three grandchildren. Virginia “Ginny” Kalweit

Virginia “Ginny” Kalweit, 94, of Livingston, New Jersey, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on Monday, October 17, 2016. Born October 2, 1922, Virginia was infamous to her friends and family for knowing Frank Sinatra and performing with him in the nightclubs of Hoboken and Jersey City in the early 1940s. Moving from Jersey City to Livingston in 1954, Virginia loved to spend the summers in her pool and enjoyed hosting family and friends. She worked at the Llewellyn Edison Bank in West Orange for 25 years before her retirement in 1994. Virginia was predeceased in death by her loving husband, Frederick H. Kalweit. She is survived by her two children: her daughter, Ginny Odenbrett and her husband, Randy, of Parsippany; and her son, Fred Kalweit and his wife, Susan, of Mendham. Virginia was lovingly adored by her two granddaughters, Lauren Pierson and Lanea Odenbrett. Virginia was also a beloved grandmother to John, Christian, and Robi, and great-grandmother to Benjamin, Shane and Liam. She is survived by her sister, Gloria Glover, and was predeceased by her brothers, Jack and Lee. She also leaves behind a number of loving friends and neighbors. Funeral services for Virginia will be held on Friday, October 21, 2016 from 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home in Livingston. Interment will follow immediately at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, New Jersey.

M. Theresa (Edelen) Westerman

A Memorial Mass for M. Theresa (Edelen) Westerman, 90, of Lecanto, FL, formerly of Livingston and Avon-by-the-Sea, NJ, will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2016, at St. Catherine of Siena Church in Mountain Lakes, NJ. She passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 28, in Lecanto. Terrie was born in Orange, NJ. After attending Marylawn of the Oranges in South Orange, she studied at Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, CT and later Newark State Teachers College (Kean University) in Union, NJ, where she earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in Education. She served as a devoted classroom teacher and reading specialist in the East Hanover Township School District for more than 26 years before retiring in 1993. In 1946, she married William Westerman, and together they raised five children and opened their homes to many during their almost 60 years of marriage. Terrie was a passionate advocate for children. At a time when special services for hearing impaired/learning disabled children were not always available, Terrie earned her commercial license to provide transportation for her own son, Billy, and other special needs children to ensure access to out of district special education services. In addition, Terrie was a licensed NJ realtor. She was active with the League of Women Voters and St. Philomena’s Church in Livingston, where she was a parishioner for over 50 years. Terrie was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and possessed a tenacious social conscience. She brought her own children to join in marching for Civil Rights in Newark in the 1960s. After her retirement, she continued to tutor disadvantaged youths in Essex County and Asbury Park. She had incredible clarity and conviction in her beliefs, which were demonstrated with faith-filled action. We can honor her by doing the same. Terrie was preceded in death by her husband, William, and her son, William Jr. She is survived by her daughters, Margaret Hoogenakker (Ronald) and Mary Lou Meseroll (Scott), and her sons, Richard (Marie) and James (Nancy); ten grandchildren, William, Elizabeth, Michael, Brian, Patrick, Jill, Jessica, Sean, Danielle, and William;, her great-grandchildren, Brigid and Michael; her sister-in-law, Betty Edelen of NC; and many nieces and nephews. Services Held For Evan Kramer

Evan Kramer of West Orange, formerly of Livingston, died October 11. Born in Newark and raised in Maplewood, he lived in Livingston for 27 years before moving to West Orange three years ago. Mr. Kramer was an attorney with his late father, Milton, at Kramer and Kramer in Newark for 45 years. Two years ago, he became of counsel to Frank and Pollack, LLC, an immigration firm in Newark. He was a graduate of Lafayette College and Cornell University Law School. He was a member of the New Jersey Bar Association and the American Immigration Lawyers’ Association. Mr. Kramer is survived by his wife, Beth; two sons, Avraham (Talie) of Safed, Israel and Brad Blumenfeld (Patty); two daughters, Keri (Gabe) Levitt of Westport, Connecticut and Stacey Blumenfeld; his brother, Neil (Donna) of New York; and six grandchildren. Funeral arrangements were by the Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Funeral Chapel, Livingston. The family has suggested that memorial contributions be made to the Daughters of Israel, West Orange, or the Summit Speech School, New Providence.

William Gregor Neff

William Gregor Neff, 51, passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 in Livingston. Bill was born and raised in Dobbs Ferry, NY, and was a proud graduate of Lehigh University. He worked for Hanson & Ryan, Inc. as an insurance executive. Bill enjoyed watching sports, especially the New York Jets and Yankees. He also enjoyed spending time at the beach, coaching his son in sports, and anything that involved spending time with his family and friends. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Jill, his children Amanda and Zachary; his parents, Gregor and Barbara Neff; his brothers, James Neff and Nick Neff, as well as many extended family members and friends. Mitchell Orlowsky Dies at Age 53

Mitchell Orlowsky, 53, of Livingston, who was currently residing in Dallas, Texas, died October 25. He was 53 years old. Mr. Orlowsky was born on April 25, 1963, in Irvington. He was the son of Seymour and Rhoda Orlowsky. He is survived by his former wife and author, Kathleen Kent; his son, Josh Orlowsky, of Dallas, Texas; his mother, Rhoda; and his sisters, Ilene Muething and Janice Orlowsky. A graduate of Rutgers University, Mr. Orlowsky founded and served as chief executive officer for several internet software companies. He was a frequent speaker at financial service conferences, and wrote for banking publications. He was also a lecturer in entrepreneurship at Southern Methodist University for nine years.

Predeceased by his wife, Theresa “Tessie,” and his six siblings, Mr. Orsini is survived by his children, Maria Intile (Anthony); Phyllis LaVorgna (Rev. Robert); Richard Orsini (Catherine); and James Orsini (JoAnn); and six grandchildren.

Evelyn Wolff, 86

Evelyn Haggren Wolff, 86, of Howell passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2016. Born and raised in New York City, she had lived in Livingston, where she raised her family, before moving to Jackson in 2002, where she resided for 12 years. Evelyn loved celebrating special occasions with her friends and family. A warm and welcoming hostess, there was always an extra place at her table. She will be remembered for her home cooking, delicious pies, knitting and sewing, and for being a mother to all. She was predeceased by her brother, David E. Haggren, in 1996. Evelyn is survived by her brother, Harry G. Haggren of Howell; her children, William Wolff and his wife, Rebecca Wolff of Howell; Nancy Wolff and her husband, Jack Gernsheimer of Bernville, PA; Carol Wolff Fallon and her husband, John F. Fallon, Jr. of East Greenwich, RI; and Suzanne Wolff and her boyfriend, Kenneth Wicenski of Howell; and her six grandchildren, David Trethewey, Emily Trethewey, William Wolff, James Wolff, Claire Fallon and Conor Fallon. Funeral Services Held For Kenneth L. Burch

Former Livingston resident Kenneth L. Burch, 87, died on October 21 in Allentown, Pennsylvania after a battle with Alzheimer’s disease. A graveside service was held on October 25. Mr. Burch was born in Jamestown, New York on November 27, 1928 to the late Alice (Alberg) and Roy Burch. After high school graduation, he served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1949 and was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska. Later he was graduated from Hempstead Diesel School on Long Island. After working for The Newark Evening News, Mr. Burch was a delivery driver for The New York Times. He retired in 1986 and moved from Livingston to Ephrata, Pennsylvania. Mr. Burch is survived by his wife of 60 years, Doris (Todd) Burch of Allentown; his daughters, Linda Harlan (Timothy) of Citra, Florida, and Janice Trocino (Gary) of Livingston; a granddaughter; and sisters, Louise Wright (Thad) of Eden, North Carolina; Lois Bowder (Adrian) of Falconer, New York; Kathy Burch of Lakewood, New York; and Becky Fitzpatrick (Matt) of Ashville, New York. He was predeceased by two sisters, Shirley Swanson and Barbara Miller. Scott Allen Bailey

Scott Allen Bailey, son of the late Jane Curtis Bailey and the late Edward Bruce Bailey, career newspaperman at The Star-Ledger, passed away October 17, 2016 in Rochelle Park, NJ, after a serious illness resulting in constrained movement for six years. He was 61. He is survived by his sister, Lynn Bailey, who helped take care of him during those years; his brother, Douglas Bailey; and his sister Jean Bailey, all of whom were close in age and involved in his life. A resident of Livingston from1954 until 1975, Scott played sports and attended public schools, graduating from high school in 1972. He may be recalled by some for his classic good looks or happy singing or abiding love for all creatures. A carpenter by trade, Scott will be laid to rest with generations of his maternal Lloyd relatives in The Woodlands Cemetery in Philadelphia, PA, a National Historic Landmark, alongside his loving mother and grandmother.
