Louise C. Davis, 85, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2017 in Virginia Beach, VA. Born Louise Callanan Creble in Albany, NY in 1931 to Kenneth and Ruth Creble, she attended the Albany Academy for Girls and was graduated from Sargent College of Boston University with a bachelor of science degree in physical education. She was a teacher in physical education before marrying the late William C. Davis, with whom she shared 52 wonderful years of marriage in Livingston, NJ and later in West Caldwell, NJ. She was the proud mother of Scott Davis and his wife, Lori, of Winchester, MA; the late Tim Davis and his wife, Mary Ann Patrick of Cranberry, PA; Doug Davis and his wife, Missy, of Virginia Beach, VA; and Rob Davis of Seattle, WA. She cherished her grandsons, Chris, Jeff, Matt and Mark. “Weezie” (as she was known to all who knew her) was a life-long optimist who took great joy in encouraging others and celebrating their accomplishments. She loved the community of Livingston and all that its schools, recreation and sports programs could offer. She enthusiatically supported her sons and their friends in all pursuits, especially music and sports (including 5 a.m. shuttles to ice time for the Livingston Hockey Club). She cherished the day-to-day life and the dear friendships surrounding Wellington Road as well as her treasured friends through Little League and Livingston High School. Neighborhood parties brought her genuine joy and there was nothing like watching a live sporting event with Weezie’s energetic commentary! She was a gifted pianist since childhood and, absent any lessons, provided great joy with her seemingly effortless and spirited piano performances. Those of a certain age recall her upbeat piano accompaniments with the chorus at Roosevelt/Monmouth Court Elementary School and she volunteered to play for many organizations throughout her life. Christmas Eve around Weezie’s piano became a tradition one didn’t want to miss, including her rousing rendition of Jingle Bell Rock. In her later years, she was delighted to continue playing with fellow musicians and singers for her wonderful new friends in the Crane’s Mill community. She is survived by her sister, Catherine McCarraher and husband, Bruce, of Ocala, FL, with whom she and Bill shared wonderful summer get-aways to the lake. Weezie so very much appreciated her relationships with her sister’s children throughout her life as she watched their own families grow. The shared holidays, and special occasions with the Greenwoods of New Canaan and the Davises and Coulters of Chattanooga made each year memorable. Join us on Saturday, January 28, to celebrate Weezie’s life at the Westin Governor Morris Hotel, 2 Whippany Road, Morristown, NJ. Our upbeat, open gathering is from 2 to 5 p.m. with special comments of remberance at 3:15 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Albany Academy for Girls at albanyacademies.org.
